 I sewed the squares together around the embroidered center flower & sewed the gingham border on.. all with the machine. I tied the three layers together with yarn and I hand stitched the edges.

 The top squares and border are sewed together by machine. The three layers are tied with yarn and the edges are hand stitched. Below is a closeup of the back fabric, which is a double size sheet. (All my quilts have sheets for the backing.)
